This relaxed tour lets you discover Berlin in an entirely different light. A very relaxed and beautiful tour with little traffic.
We depart from Pariser Platz by the beautifully illuminated Brandenburg Gate to the new government district with the imposing, illuminated Reichstag building with its spectacular dome by Norman Foster. From there, we head over to the newly built Federal Chancellery and Paul Löbe House, beautifully illuminated from within. From the government district, we head to the illuminated Victory Column past the Soviet War Memorial and Holocaust Memorial to the bright lights of Potsdamer Platz with its spectacular modern buildings by internationally renowned architects. You will be particularly amazed by the spectacular roof design of the Sony Center, where the lighting changes colour every 20 seconds.
We then ride along a longer stretch of the Berlin Wall before arriving at Checkpoint Charlie, a former border crossing where we will hear a lot of interesting stories about this famous spot. We then continue along the bright shop windows of Friedrichstraße to the most beautiful square in Berlin, the Gendarmenmarkt, flanked by two striking churches from the 18th century (the German and French "Cathedrals") with their beautiful towers and Schinkel’s state theatre from the 19th century.
From here, we will then head over to equally harmonious Bebelplatz, a beauty unfortunately marred by being the sight of the first Nazi book burning in 1933, marked by an underground monument eerily lit from below. We then continue to the recently rebuilt City Palace of Berlin - now called Humboldt Forum - which is beautiful illuminated at night.
Finally, we head down Unter den Linden past the particularly lovely equestrian statue of Frederick the Great back to Pariser Platz and the Brandenburg Gate.
