Grand Tiergarten Tour

This tour takes us through one of the largest and most beautiful urban parks in Europe. We will ride along idyllic waterways and small lakes past interesting statues and monuments within the park after exploring the new government district along the River Spree.

From Pariser Platz, we ride through the Brandenburg Gate and into the "green lung" of Berlin right at its centre.

We first pass the imposing historic Reichstag building with its striking new modern dome by Sir Norman Foster. We then go past the Federal Chancellery and the Paul Löbe Government House down to the banks of the Spree. We ride along the riverbanks on a path away from automobile traffic and along the edge of the Tiergarten pass by the 'Haus der Kulturen der Welt' also known as 'Schwangere Auster' (pregnant oyster) until we reach Bellevue Palace, the official residence of the German President. From there, we ride around the Victory Column and then head into the inner heart of the Tiergarten with wide pavements far removed from the city traffic. We ride past various little streams and enchanted rhododendron groves past small lakes to Luise Island with its memorial to Queen Luise.

Our relaxed tour continues past interesting statues and monuments within and lining the edge of the Tiergarten (Composers Memorial, Global Stone Project, Goethe Monument, Holocaust Memorial, and the Soviet War Memorial) back to the Brandenburg Gate.

During this relaxed ride through one of the largest urban parks in Europe, you’ll learn a lot about the eventful history of this park, one the oldest in Berlin, and adjacent buildings.
